The 52nd edition of Kerala State Awards -- one of the most important awards nights in the Malayalam movie industry -- will be held today, Friday, May 27, at 5 pm. At 5pm, the Minister for Culture Saji Cheri will award the winners of the different categories of the largest Malayalam awards in excellence in film industry.

The jury that has decided the winners of each category is headed by Saeed Akhtar Mirza, a Bollywood screenwriter and filmmaker. There were 142 films submitted to the awards. Only 45 of them were selected for the final round. The number of films submitted for the awards was further reduced.

Kerala State Film Awards 2022 Winners

The State Kerala Film Awards will be a unique event this year, with two father-son teams (and their films!) competing in different categories. According to reports, the Mammootty starrer films "Priest" and "One" are competing in this race along with Mohanlal’s smash hit film "Drishyam 2". The competition also features Suresh Gopi's starrer film 'Kaaval'. The competition will also feature the films of Dulquer Salmaan's star children and Pranav Mohanlal, who will be competing in different categories against their father's movies.

Many A-listers, including Manju Warrier and Nimisha Thirvothu, Darshana Rajendran and Rajisha Vijayan have been nominated in the category of 'Best Actor (Female),' which includes Aishwarya Lekshmi Anna Ben, Surabhi, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Parvathy Thirvothu.

The race for male actors is Indrans and Suraj Venjaramoodu and Guru Somasundaran. Pranav Mohanlal (Mammoothy), Dulquer Salman, Mohanlal, Pranav Mohanlal and Mammoothy are also included. Other actors nominated are Jayasurya and Kunchacko Boban as well as Jayasurya and Biju Menon. Movies such as Hridayam' and Kheda', along with 'Nishidho’, ’The Potraits’, & '#Home’ are also competing in separate categories.
